Editor's note: In March 2025, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) released a special research report entitled "Reshaping the Future: The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on South Korea". The "Report" systematically evaluates the application status, economic impact and policy preparation of artificial intelligence (AI) in South Korea.

    The "Report" points out that South Korea ranks among the top in the world in terms of AI adoption, especially in large, young and technology-intensive enterprises. AI technology can help improve productivity and alleviate the labor force tightening problem caused by aging, but it may also exacerbate the differentiation of the labor market and income inequality. Although South Korea has outstanding performance in digital infrastructure and innovation capabilities, the "Report" calls for further strengthening of human capital construction, improving labor market flexibility, and sharing the dividends brought by AI through policy intervention.
